Marvin Marriott

Marvin R. Marriott was born in Jamaica, West Indies, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. His childhood interests in reading, mathematics, and science eventually influenced both his professional career and his imagination as a writer.

Marvin spent more than thirty years with MTA New York City Transit. Before retiring as a Director in the Office of System Safety, he worked in transportation operations, safety, accident investigation, emergency response, terrorism response, and regulatory compliance. His career frequently placed him at the intersection of technology, human behavior, and decisions carrying serious consequences.

His Christian faith also informs the questions explored throughout Noah’s Arc, including the relationship between faith and science, right and wrong, control and free will, and whether technology can preserve civilization without stripping away the qualities that make people human.

Away from writing, Marvin enjoys mountain biking, cooking, home renovation projects, visiting the gun range, and spending time with his family. Noah’s Arc is his first novel and the fulfillment of an idea he carried for many years before retirement allowed him to bring Olivia, Aiden, AGNES, and the Arc to life.
